A night out on the town
Yesterday, I spent the day just chilling out. I hadn´t seen a movie at the theaters in ages and I thought what the hell.. what a good way to relax and watch a movie while munching on my fav snack, popcorn. I headed out to the parque carolina and went to this huge ass shopping mall that not only has a movie theather but also has a bowling alley, laser tag center and an assload of shops. Well, I arrived and 1 and randomly chose a movie. Ended up seeing the messengers. The movie itself was okay, kind of lame if you ask me but still there were some scenes that made u jump up. What was interesting however, was the way people enjoy movies here in ecuador. Back in the states, once the movie starts everyone is quiet with no talking. Here.. man oh man.. during the entire movie, there were loud conversations taking place... Couples were taking the opportunity to make out in the dark corners of the movie hall. Needless to say it was pretty interesting that whenever a scary scene popped up, there was laughter from the crowd. maybe they were laughing because they were scared. In any case, I found the whole experience entertaining and it´s a must for anyone ever visiting latin america. After that I headed back to the parque and just lounged there for an hour or two getting in some sun sititng her a big tree.
That night, I decided to keep it low key. After dinner at the terrace which by the way overlooks the old city of quito (beautiful scene), i headed off to my room to relax and do some reading. My roomates came in like an hour later and urged me that i had to come out with them. Finally giving in, I headed out for a night out on the town. Of course there were beers, rum and cokes and plenty of alcohol during the night. I even met a really cute Colombian girl and we danced the night away... till 3 am when i realized my roomates had all gone home. Hence I terminated the night when the dance club stopped playing the music and took the 10 minute taxi ride back to the hotel.
